Bird Festival

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and The Friends of Tualatin River National Widlife Refuge welcome you to a free, family-friendly day of celebrating wildlife and wild places. Tons of hands-on activities, crafts, and a live bird show will keep you and your little ones entertained for hours.

Puddle Stompers

Sherwood, OR - January through November, Twice per month: The second Wednesday and the following Tuesday

You and your preschoolers are invited to this free and educational program where you'll learn about the natural wonders of the Refuge. Volunteer Naturalists lead crafts, share stories, and guide walks on Refuge trails. The Refuge even supplies 'froggy' raingear for the kids! Each date offers a different theme, so please come more than once.

BirdFest & Bluegrass

Ridgefield, WA — October 5th & 6th, 2019

Join us for a weekend of celebrating birds with music, crafts, a live bird show, and guided walks on the Refuge. Free activities take place throughout the Refuge and the city of Ridgefield, so you and your little ones are in for a full day of entertainment and sightseeing.

Cathlapotle Plankhouse

Saturdays and Sundays, 12pm-4pm, May 4th through October 13th, 2019

Bring the whole family to this unique site for interpretation of our region's natural and cultural heritage. The Plankhouse is based on the Chinookan village of Cathlapotle and offers a tangible link to these original stewards. Volunteer docents are present for tours and questions.

Get Outdoors Day

It's a full day of fun outside at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, WA. Enjoy tons of free activities with your whole family, including climbing a rock wall, archery, fishing, and other outdoors sports. Come visit the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service where we'll be spreading the good word about wildlife and wild places.

Sturgeon Festival

Vancouver, WA — September 21, 2019

Check out The Vancouver Water Resources Education Center’s annual Sturgeon Festival this September. It will bring a splash of excitement to kids of all ages with hands-on activities, fish dissections and live bird and reptile shows. This free, fun event offers opportunities for the entire family to learn about fish and other plants and animals in and around the Columbia River.
